GENERAL INFORMATION

Important Notice Regarding Registration
We no longer accept faxed registrations.  All registrations are done online

Who Should Attend: This training schedule includes mandatory trainings & educational sessions relevant to professionals working in any capacity with persons with developmental disabilities

Training Requirements: Requirements are dependent on the services you provide. Please check the APD website for the Developmental Disabilities Waiver Services Coverage & Limitations Handbook for your specific requirements before registering

Special Sessions: Throughout the year there will be special workshops & meetings for which you will receive separate notification

Registration: Advance registration is required. To reserve a seat, please use the online registration. You will receive a confirmation by email. If you do not receive a confirmation number you will not be considered registered and will not be accommodated in the session. Pre-registration for each session is 15 minutes before the class begins.

Meeting rooms are listed on the schedule for each session.

Parking: Limited paid parking available in the building garage (first level only).  Around the building, call 1-866-990-PARK or visit website www.miamiparking.com to pay by credit card

Certification: In order to receive a certificate you must present your confirmation, sign the log & stay for the duration of the   training

Reminders:

  • If you are confirmed and unable to attend, please email your cancellation at least 72 hours before the session to geneveve_allen@apd.state.fl.us to avoid going on the 'no-show' list. Agencies or individuals who register and fail to attend 2 classes will be placed on the 'no-show' list and not allowed to register for any training on the next calendar
  • You may not substitute anyone else to attend in your slot 
  • Please be on time and bring any necessary handbooks if listed under special remarks   
  • Certificates will be issued at the end of each class at the discretion of the Instructor after showing an understanding of the material and/ or passing a test by at least 80%
  • Please keep track of any certificates issued to you, as we will not reproduce them 
  • No children are permitted at the training

ABC – Allocation, Budget, & Contract Control System
Description: This training gives an overview of ABC system & how to correctly input provider and client data.  Designed to familiarize participants with interpreting & maintaining accurate Cost Plan entries
Pre-requisites: Completion of District Specific Training
Who should attend: Support Coordinators & Program Staff responsible for client data entries

A Team Approach to Supported Living
Description: This course provides technical assistance in the roles & responsibilities of Supported Living Coaches & WSC to better serve individuals in Supported Living arrangement

Billing Issues
Description: This training provides an overview of the Service authorization process and problems that cause 299 errors when providers request payments

Group Home (GH) Operator Training
Description: This seminar designed for new & existing GH providers will cover policies and procedures for efficiently operating a GH with a variety of different consumers. Potentially difficult situations are explored including operational, behavioral, legal, and programmatic challenges
Pre-requisites: Employment at a GH providing service to APD consumers
Who should attend: Current licensed GH Managers/Operators & Waiver Support Coordinators

Description: Training will review APD's procedure for incident reporting; distinguishes between critical & reportable incidents and their time frames; & how to complete an IR

Supported Living Training
Description: Designed to provide tools & processes to support individuals in community living. Meets APDs requirements for certification to become a Supported Living Coach
Pre-requisites: Credentials reviewed by APD & recommend by Supported Living Manager. Complete New Provider Orientation (NPO). Fax resume and a copy of the NPO certificate to Fanny Diaz at (305)349-1479 for APD's review and approval to register for Supported Living Coach Training

Understanding the Handbook & Core Assurances
Description: Provides an overview of program requirements, trainings, policies & procedures and self-assessment surveys. Reviews the organization & requirements of Medicaid Waiver Coverage & Limitations Handbook
