A Winning Personality
Katie Myhre wins people over with her warm smile and polite nature at the Winn-Dixie store in Crawfordville. Myhre has worked part-time as a customer service associate for seven years, bagging groceries, assisting customers with finding items, helping customers to their cars, and retrieving carts from the parking lot.
Front End Manager Jennifer Buswell says, "She handles her responsibilities
well. She's always right there to do what's needed. We never have to remind her
of her duties."
Myhre has a developmental disability. October is Disability Employment
Awareness Month. Florida's Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) is
highlighting the contributions of people with disabilities to the workforce.
Buswell says, "Katie does a great job. Everyone loves her---employees and
customers. She has a great personality, always friendly and smiling. Katie is
very courteous to everyone."
"I like my job. I greet customers. I like the people I work with and have made
friends there," says Myhre. "I like making money and saving it, too."
Myhre says she's planning to use some of her paycheck to see "High School
Musical 3" that recently came out in theatres.
APD supports people with developmental disabilities to live, learn, and work in their communities. For more information about the Agency for Persons with Disabilities, visit www.apdcares.org or call toll-free 1- 866-APD-CARES (1-866-273-2273).
