In All Kinds of Weather
Michael Gibson says he's one of the most dependable employees at Air Supply Heating and Air Conditioning. "They can always count on me,"
Gibson says. The 24-year-old man has been employed as a part-time custodian
at
the Crawfordville business for six years.
October is Disability Employment Awareness Month. Florida's Agency for Persons
with Disabilities (APD) is highlighting the contributions of people with
disabilities, like Gibson, to the workforce.
Service Manager Jeff Stephens says, "Michael likes to work. He is very
reliable." Stephens says Gibson is dependable and wants to perform his job
duties.
Although Gibson works only one day a week, he believes his contribution to the
company is important. His custodial work consists of vacuuming, mopping,
emptying the trash, and any other needed cleaning.
"I have friends there, too. We have coffee together sometimes and talk," said
Gibson, who is proud to be a member of a company that values his work, as well
as his friendship.
"Michael is a very likeable guy. He is friendly and has a good attitude. He
gets along with everyone," says Stephens.
APD supports people with developmental disabilities to live, learn, and work in their communities. For more information about the Agency for Persons with Disabilities, visit www.apdcares.org or call toll-free 1- 866-APD-CARES (1-866-273-2273).
