Persons referred for admission must have been determined eligible for services from the Developmental Disabilities Program prior to an admission request. The District Developmental Disabilities Placement Coordinators are responsible for the oversight of referrals to Sunland for residential services. Once a referral is received the Admissions and Discharge Coordinator at Sunland will review referral information in conjunction with other professionals and make a recommendation concerning admission to the Superintendent. The Superintendent will make the final decision regarding admission.
Alternative placement is pursued based on the request of the individual, his/her guardian or family or the recommendation of the active treatment team. The Admission and Discharge Coordinator works with Sunland staff and the individual's home district to effect the desired move.
