Sunland Marianna > Centeralized Support Services

Centralized Support Services is a service-oriented department responsible for providing client related services for all residential units at Sunland. The primary daily function is to provide vocational training for work eligible residents. Residents receive training in areas such as recycling, supported employment, hortitherapy, food processing, manual skills, ranch and park maintenance, as well as Sunland's own community-based Suntown Mall. The Suntown Mall provide services in areas such as an on-site beauty/barber shop, coffee shop, bank, post office, clothing store and gift shop.

Other services provided by Centralized Support Services include recreational and leisure activities. The Recreation department supervises the Rainbow Room, a therapeutic relaxation area, leisure center and gymnasium, which includes an Olympic-size swimming pool. Sunland has maintained an active role in Special Olympics throughout the North Florida district, as well as state-sponsored competitions. In 2003 Sunland's Unified Bowling team advanced to the national tournament in Knoxville, Tennessee. Residents have the opportunity participate in twelve sports including basketball, softball, volleyball, track and field, cycling, bowling, equestrian, bocce, shuffleboard, power lifting, golf and swimming. The athletes participating in Special Olympics have been successful in their endeavors, by placing high in all categories since the early 1970's.
