![]() Here in North Florida, I have gladly noticed the crisp fall air that welcomes me each morning when I walk outside to come to work at the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD). November is the time of year when we honor our veterans, then later in the month we fill our bellies with delicious food when we commemorate the first Thanksgiving in America.

Ten businesses that hire people with disabilities were recognized by the state of Florida on October 5 for being exceptional employers of people with disabilities. The businesses from around the state were honored with a plaque made by people with disabilities. |

The Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) participated in White Cane Day sponsored by the Division of Blind Services, in partnership with the Florida State University College of Education on October 13 in Tallahassee. |

Employment Conference | |
APD provided multiple presentations at the Partners for Progress conference in Orlando held in October. The conference was held by Residential Options of Florida (ROOF) and Florida Employment of People with Supported Employment (APSE). |

Students and adults with disabilities from Bay County celebrated DEAM/DMD (Disability Mentoring Day) on October 19. Approximately 78 participants from six different schools spent the morning shadowing at a local business of their choice. |

![]() Sunland Center Celebrates 38th Annual Fall Festival | |
Saturday, October 29, was a beautiful Fall day, providing the perfect atmosphere for Sunland Center’s 38th Annual Fall Festival. The weather could not have been more perfect starting off with the brisk, cool morning, beautiful blue skies, and the warmth of the afternoon sun. Superintendent Geri Williams and the Sunland staff were especially pleased with the turnout. |

The University of Miami Hurricanes faced off against the University of North Carolina Tar Heels on October 15. It promised to be an exciting and nail biting game. Darrell Parrish and Michael Vadurro, both APD customers and guests of the University of Miami were eagerly awaiting this long anticipated outing. |
