March Family Care Council Florida Meeting

On March 6 and 7, representatives from the 15 Family Care Councils gathered in Orlando for the March Family Care Council Florida (FCCF) meeting. During the meeting, Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) staff provided the council with updates. Deputy Director of Operations Clarence Lewis shared information on the 2020 Legislative Session, Arc of Florida dental services, and Sunland Center, while Communications Director Melanie Etters and Emergency Coordination Officer Karen Hagan provided the group with information on COVID-19.

The meeting included a conference call with Florida Developmental Disabilities Council (FDDC) Director of Public Policy and Advocacy Margaret Hooper. Hooper provided an overview of the 2020 legislative session from the FDDC perspective. The FDDC advocates and promotes programs that positively impact individuals with developmental disabilities and provides individuals with developmental disabilities and families with an array of educational materials to help them thrive in their local community.
