Family Care Council in Action

After hearing about the shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) throughout the state, members of the Area 13 Family Care Council (FCC) took action. To help providers protect the individuals they serve during the COVID-19 pandemic, council members collected, made, and donated more than 130 washable masks to direct care workers in Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Marion, and Sumter counties.

“Our council is so exceptional,” said Chairperson of the Area 13 FCC Karen Huscher. “They rise to meet any challenge we have in our counties for our families, self-advocates, or anyone with a need.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has provided patterns for reusable face masks and directions on how to properly sterilize them. You can access the link on APD’s COVID-19 page.
