Jenkins Recognized by Tampa City Council
On July 15, self-advocate Arizona Jenkins received a commendation from the City Council of Tampa. Council member Bill Carlson made the official presentation on behalf of the council.
The commendation recognizes Jenkins' many achievements as a recipient of the Idelio Valdes Leadership Advocacy Award. It mentions his efforts to guide the Tampa transportation authority to serve all the citizens of Tampa. It names his New Horizons Support Group efforts to teach people to be strong self-advocates. It concludes by saying, “Your kindness, generosity of spirit, and leadership that has inspired countless citizens have made the City of Tampa a better place for all citizens.”
