National Core Indicators

National Core Indicators (NCI) is a collaborative effort between the National Association of State Directors of Developmental Disabilities Services (NASDDDS) and the Human Services Research Institute (HSRI). The purpose is to support NASDDDS member agencies, such as the state of Florida, to gather a set of performance and outcome measures to track performance over time, as well as to compare results across states, and to establish national benchmarks. The indicators address key areas including employment, rights, service planning, community inclusion, choice, and health and safety.

In Florida, Qlarant surveys individuals and their families who receive iBudget waiver services. A minimum of 400 people randomly selected need to participate for the data to be scientifically valid. The two types of surveys are the mail-out Adult Family Surveys and the Adult In-Person Surveys, which are being done via video calls this year.

For the Adult In-Person Survey, Qlarant relies on the WSCs and CDC+ Consultants to help make the initial call to the person/family who is sampled to participate. In addition, the WSCs and CDC+ Consultants assist with completing the Background Information section of the survey that relates to the person’s health, medications, etc. They play a crucial role in collecting the data that is ultimately used to make people’s services and quality of life better. If contacted by Qlarant about an NCI survey for a person you serve, please respond promptly.
