DCF Summit 2021

Representatives from the Agency for Persons with Disabilities attended the 2021 Florida Department of Children and Families Child Protection Summit September 8-10, 2021, in Orlando. The annual summit is the largest child welfare event in Florida.

Residential Planning Unit Supervisor Jessica McDaniel and Agency Senior Behavior Analyst Dr. Kristin Korinko gave a presentation titled Navigating APD's Residential Planning process: Challenges and Successes for our Children in Florida.

APD's Residential Planning Unit oversees statewide requests for placements into APD-licensed facilities. Training and services offered within these homes differ greatly between the residential habilitation levels (Standard, Behavior Focused, and Intensive Behavioral). This workshop presented up-to-date resources on eligibility, an outline of the residential planning process for APD and CBC minors, and reinforcement of the importance of bridging the gap between "needs" and "placements."

Other APD employees were there to support McDaniel and Korinko, while also participating in the annual conference.
