Family Care Councils Gather for the Statewide Council Meeting
On March 18 and 19, representatives from the 15 Family Care Councils gathered for a jam-packed weekend full of information and updates. The weekend kicked off on Friday with the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) updates. APD Chief of Staff Gina Herron and APD’s Deputy Director of Budget, Planning and Administration Rose Salinas provided council members with a legislative wrap-up for the 2022 Legislative Session.
On Saturday, the meeting also included introductory presentations by the Family Network on Disabilities (fndusa.org), the National Alliance on Mental Illness (nami.org), and the Florida Association of Centers for Independent Living (www.floridacils.org).
The next Family Care Council Florida meeting will be May 20-21 at the Embassy Suites Orlando Airport. For meeting details, as well as information about local council events and activities, visit www.fccflorida.org.
