Equestrian Competitor Wins Two Blue Ribbons
Bruce Mayo is the proud winner of two first place awards for Special Olympics equestrian events held at the Global Equestrian Center in Wellington, Florida, February 26, 2022. Mayo won the blue ribbons while competing in Working Trails (navigating obstacles) and Western Equitation events.
Mayo lives in nearby Boynton Beach and has been riding with the Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center in Wellington, Florida every week to prepare for these competitions. He was delighted to ride “Sugar,” his favorite horse.
Growing up, Mayo’s family owned a horseback riding academy called Circle M, with 250 acres of land and approximately 50 horses. Circle M offered trail rides, hayrides, and pony rides. Working for his family’s business, Mayo learned to saddle the horses, clean the stables, wash the horses, etc.
He was excited to share his success with Supported Living Coach Susan Craig and Riding Coach Sean O’Malley cheering him on. Mayo is looking forward to more riding competitions and hopes to soon be chosen for the upcoming Florida State Games in Ocala.
