Adult Day Training Redesign Update

APD continues to work to bring Adult Day Training (ADT) and Supported Employment services into compliance with the federal Home and Community-Based (HCBS) Settings Rule by March 2023. Changes to the iBudget waiver were effective October 1, 2022.

Changes include designating ADT as a habilitation service only and will no longer include job training and employment. ADT services will continue to include services such as assisting clients with meaningful day activities and community inclusion.

A new service, Prevocational Training (Life Skills Development 4), is being added to create more paths to employment for APD clients. The new service will last a maximum of 36 months for each client and will include volunteering and job skills to help transition to competitive integrated employment.

In October 2022, APD hosted webinars for providers and Waiver Support Coordinators (WSCs) on the redesign. The webinars can be accessed here.

On November 10, 2022, APD issued Provider Advisory 2022-029, providing information to existing iBudget Florida waiver providers and waiver provider applicants who may be interested in becoming a Prevocational provider, as well as service expansion requirements. APD will continue to distribute information about the ADT redesign to customers, providers, WSCs, and other stakeholders.
