The Orlando Magic Hosts First Annual Disability Inclusion Night Event
The NBA team, the Orlando Magic, recently announced their first annual ASL & Deaf Awareness night, which will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
This special home game against the Cleveland Cavaliers promises to be inclusive, educational, and most importantly, fun! The event features ASL-centered programming, a sign language social, and other exciting activities. Planned activities include:
- A dance performance from the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind (FSDB)
- A post-game picture on court
- Stuff the dragon will be teaching the crowd “go magic” in ASL and he’ll visit different groups to connect with them over ASL
- Every person under the age of 18 will receive a free Orlando Magic branded pop-it
- The recognition of an FSDB women’s basketball player on the jumbotron for scoring over 1000 points in her career
- An Orange County Public School student will be signing the national anthem as it is sung.
- Interpreters will be available in the arena and retail stores. Concessions and guest services will have pen and paper ready.
