APD Shares Information and Resources at Family Café 2022

The Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) attended the 24th Annual Family Café, held at the Hyatt Regency Orlando May 27-29. Throughout the weekend, attendees were able to visit APDs information booth where they were able to ask questions and get information about services. APD staff also hosted several hour-long breakout sessions during the event, sharing information about Consumer-Directed Care Plus (CDC+), disaster preparedness, self-advocacy, employment goals, Individual Comprehensive Assessment (ICA), and eligibility for services. Staff had a wonderful weekend and are looking forward to next year’s Family Café!


APD Emergency Coordination Officer Karen Hagan shared useful tools and information about disaster preparedness.


APD Operations Bureau Program Administrator Liesl Ramos (left) and Jesse Riddle from The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (right) shared information and resources about competitive integrated employment.


Kimberly Quinn, APD Bureau of Program Development, Compliance, and Policy provided an update on the Individual Comprehensive Assessment.


Liesl Ramos, APD Operations Bureau Program Administrator (left) and Jeannette Estes, APD Central Regional Operations Manager (right) shared helpful information with attendees about the APD application and eligibility process.


Mindy Whitehead, APD Chief of Consumer-Directed Care Plus (CDC+), provided attendees with an introduction to CDC+, as well as an update on services for existing CDC+ consumers/representatives.


APD Ombudsman Natalie Jean (left) served as moderator of a discussion panel focused on self-advocacy, navigating through day-to-day life, self-determination, and how to keep yourself in control of your life.
