Transportation Task Force is on the Move

The Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) is taking a leadership role in a very important issue that affects many people with disabilities. I am chairing the Transportation Task Force that the Legislature created this past spring.


Cabinet Meeting


On September 26, Attorney General Pam Bondi plans to introduce a resolution for Governor Scott and the Cabinet to consider declaring the month of October as Disability Employment Awareness Month in Florida.

Come Celebrate


APD, Blind Services, Vocational Rehabilitation, and other partners will be recognizing outstanding businesses on October 4 with a celebration at Tallahassee City Hall.

FPRA Golden Image Awards


The APD Communications office won two awards at the annual FPRA Golden Image Awards in Orlando on August 8.

Meet Joe Tuzo


When Joe Tuzo graduated from high school, he wanted to go to work. His Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) waiver support coordinator Lisette Rodriguez referred him to Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) for help with landing a job.


Success for Children Served by DCF


Regional and state office leaders from the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) met with representatives of the Department of Children and Families (DCF) and their local Community-Based Care organizations on August 29 in Orlando at the Children’s Summit.

Enhancements at Wekiwa Springs State Park


On August 24, Wekiwa Springs State Park hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the repair of its spring bulkhead and construction of an ADA children’s swim area.

APD Employee Recognized


In celebrating 27 years, the Disability Resource Center hosted an awards event on August 3 in Pensacola. One of APD’s own was honored.

Dance Fever


Clay Circle at Tacachale in Gainesville was transformed with sparkly blue and white lights and bright yellow tablecloths on the evening of August 22 for a hip-hopping good time!

Summertime Fun


The residents of Tacachale in Gainesville found a great way to beat the summer heat! Tacachale’s Ray Greene Center staff hosted the Summertime Fun event on August 11 at Clay Circle, featuring water toys, blowing bubbles, music, and delicious ice cream.

Sunland Fall Festival


Sunland Center’s 39th Annual Fall Festival will be celebrated on the last Saturday in October, October 28, on the Sunland campus in Marianna.

Northwest Region Addresses Need for Foster Homes for Children with Developmental Disabilities


The topic of discussion at the August 17 Area 1 Family Care Council Meeting was the critical need of foster parents for children with developmental disabilities.
