2018 is Here!

I was just getting used to 2017, and now we are in 2018. Wow! Time does fly.  All of us at the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) are looking forward to the coming year.


Transportation Task Force’s Recommendations


The Transportation Task Force was required to submit a transportation study and its recommendations to improve transportation for people with disabilities to the Florida Legislature on December 15.

New Year, Healthier You


As we ring in the New Year, many people make resolutions. One of the most common resolutions is to lose weight and become healthier. Maintaining a healthy diet and exercising are key for everyone. You can incorporate simple physical activities and healthy eating tips into your routine to ensure you and your entire family enter 2018 a little healthier and remain so throughout the year.

Twenty-two-year-old Whitney Jordan is a very goal-orientated young woman. If you speak with her job coach, Bobbie Harrison, she will tell you, “Whitney is a very confident young lady that knows the goals she has set for her life and is willing to establish reasonable steps toward reaching them.”

Family Care Council Region 14 Sponsors Speaker from Sesame Street


On November 28, the Family Care Council Region 14 sponsored a speaker on the topic of autism. Frank Campagna is a father to a 14-year-old son with autism. Campagna has been writing about his experiences and became a social media sensation.

Fourth Annual Caregiver Appreciation Luncheon Held in Pensacola


Project Empower of Northwest Florida and PURE Friendships Ministries sponsored the fourth annual caregiver appreciation luncheon on December 12, 2017, at Marcus Pointe Baptist Church in Pensacola.

The Arc Gateway PALS Graduation


Twenty-six students graduated from The Arc Gateway Program for Adult Learning and Support (PALS) on Friday, December 15, 2017, at Pensacola State College in Pensacola.
