Tacachale
Tacachale is a community dedicated to offering individuals with developmental disabilities opportunities and services which respect and encourage personal choices, enhance quality of life, and maximize individual potential. Tacachale is located in Gainesville, Florida and is committed to ensuring residents live in a safe and healthy environment that provides experiences which engage senses, give space for growth and development, and embrace capabilities and preferences.
Program and Services
Tacachale is a residential facility that operates 24 hours a day, with a diverse and professional workforce that provides a wide range of services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities, including, but not limited to:
- medical, nursing and dental care;
- nutritional and dietary services;
- occupational, physical and speech therapy;
- psychological and behavioral services;
- vocational training and work opportunities;
- recreation and leisure activities such as fitness programs, bowling, Special Olympics, and swimming; and
- community activities such as shopping, movies, sporting events and dining out.
All services are provided by a wide variety of professional and paraprofessional staff, which includes direct service providers, healthcare providers, support/administrative services workers (e.g., maintenance, security, accounting), and food production workers.
Visitor Information
All visitors must check in at the front gate, state the nature of their business, and the driver must present a valid driver’s license. If the visitor does not have legitimate justification to enter, Security Services staff will immediately contact the Center Administrator or designee for direction.
Volunteer Services
Tacachale continues to develop and maintain excellent partnerships within the Gainesville community and has established outstanding credibility as an ambassador for the developmentally disabled population.
