Sunland Advisory Council
The Sunland Advisory Council is comprised of community leaders, retired Sunland Superintendents/employees. The Council proactively seeks ways to further the mission and strengthen the effectiveness of Sunland for its residents and with the local community. They work with Sunland to partner with civic organizations, community businesses, local and municipal agencies in seeking opportunities of mutual benefit to the Center and the community.

AHCA (Agency for Heath Care Administration)
The Agency for Health Care Administration is the chief health policy and planning entity for the state. The Agency is responsible for health facilities licensure, inspection and regulatory enforcement. The Agency is also responsible for investigating consumer complaints related to health care facilities and managed care plans, and they operate the Florida Center for Health Information and Policy Analysis.

Jackson County Schools
Jackson County Schools provides public education to the residents of Sunland and Community Day Students. Jackson County School provides opportunity for enhancement of skills that are consistent with their abilities and needs. Day and afternoon/evening classes are offered and are held in the Gesslein Habile Center.

DCF/Florida State Hospital
Florida State Hospital has been providing services to DDDP since 1977. With this partnership, residents and staff have been able to receive quality care and services. Residents of DDDP receive services such as dental, inpatient and outpatient services, labs, pharmacy services, educational and library services, religious services, laundry/linen services, food services, hospital wide activities and fire department services. Staff of DDDP receive services such as health clinics, quality improvement, volunteer services, fire department services, food services, information services operations and facilities services and transportation services. DDDP would not be the same without the partnership shared with Florida State Hospital.

Florida Court System
The DDDP Attorney’s Office maintains a close relationship with the Court to ensure orders for all residents are received and appropriate for the intended care, treatment and training of our residents and that all required documents are received prior to admission. The Attorney’s Office works with the Court to obtain any missing documentation and/or to offer assistance by providing sample orders, etc., for the Court’s use; and also maintains contact with the Court to ensure receipt of any new/updated court orders.

Following admission, the DDDP Attorney’s Office ensures an open line of communication with the Court regarding the resident’s progress in our program

Disability Rights Florida
Disability Rights Florida was founded in 1977 as the statewide designated protection and advocacy system for individuals with disabilities in the State of Florida. Disability Rights Florida is a not-for-profit corporation that has authority and responsibility under eight federal grants. Our services are free and confidential.
